Braves end Cubs streak at 4
The Braves snapped the Cubs four game winning steak tonight, 2-0, behind the pitching of Javier Vazquez and three relievers. The offense appeared to revert back to old habits of not being able to get the big hit in the clutch, stranding 11 runners on the evening.

Cardiac Cubs Rally From 7 Down (Video)
Just when you thought the Cubs couldn't top Thursday's comeback against the cross town hated White Sox, they pulled off an even more improbable comeback on Friday afternoon at the Friendly Confines.

Back 2 Back Jacks Fuel Cubs Rally (Video)
Thursday afternoon there was pandemonium at Wrigley Field after the Cubs rallied from a four run deficit with two outs in the bottom of the eighth inning on back to back home runs from Derrek Lee and Geovany Soto. Lee hit a three run shot into the basket in right center, before Soto connected on a 1-1 pitch sending it up into the left center field bleachers to tie the game at 5 apiece.

Sosa should be removed from Cubs record books
If all the reports are true, it's my opinion that any player caught cheating should be banned from the game with 0% chance of making the HOF. I don't know how any fan can stand up for any of these players. They have cheated us the fans and most importantly they have disgraced the game that made them who they are.

Memo to Cubs Fans: We Gotta Get Mean
Jun 10, 2009 - 5:10 PM - by BR
On the whole, Chicago Cubs fans are a gentle bunch.

That willingness to boo that gives White Sox supporters a little extra bite? It just isn't our style.

That penchant for mass collective sarcasm that Yankees fans have perfected? Not our cup of tea.

Sure, once in a while, we have a "getting drunk and throwing garbage on the field" problem. And certain segments on the bleachers are reputed to have [Read More]

A Concise Open Letter to Milton Bradley
Jun 10, 2009 - 11:22 AM - by GROTA
Dear Don't Wake Daddy,
I know you care, I know you try hard, and even after an oh-for-six, you made what appeared to be an outstanding catch in the ninth last night, although I do admit I did not notice whether you got a proper jump on the ball or not.

Although snapping a bat in two lengthwise is an immature act, as is giving your replacement bat to a fan in the front row, I must admit I would be even more pissed if you meekly dragged your ass back

Lilly Blossoming Into All Star
Jun 10, 2009 - 1:40 AM - by Bullpen Brian
Another big outing from Mr. Lilly. I’ll keep singing the guy’s praises. The lefty is putting together an All Star type season (7-4, 3.00 ERA) and working towards a career year.

He leads the Cubs’ staff with nine quality starts, and in 10 of 12 outings he’s lasted six innings or more while sporting a 5-0 record when the Cubs give him four or more runs of support.

As I keep saying, what more can you ask?

Was Milton Bradley the Worst Possible Signing for the Chicago Cubs?
Jun 09, 2009 - 1:54 PM - by BR
There are no "do-overs" in baseball, as much as Cubs General Manager Jim Hendry would like one right now. Less than a week after trading fan-favorite and possible right fielder Mark DeRosa to Cleveland this offseason, Hendry signed free agent OF Milton Bradley to a three-year, $30 million contract.

Many Cubs fans weren't happy, not only to see DeRosa go, but to see a player brought in who had played over 120 games in a season just twice, a

Taking Stock of the Alfonso Soriano Disaster
Jun 09, 2009 - 11:21 AM - by BR
Plenty of pundits are still seeing red over Manny Ramirez' staying power—suspension be darned—as an All-Star vote-getter.

But if you're looking for a real travesty in the process, direct your attention to another National League left fielder—one who makes his living in Cubbie blue.

Ask not for whom the chad hangs, Alfonso Soriano. It hangs for thee.

Sure, the prospect of penciling in a disgrace

Cubs Still In Good Shape
Jun 09, 2009 - 11:21 AM - by Bullpen Brian
It’s been a frustrating week of Cubs baseball.

While the starting pitching was brilliant the offense was anemic.

Chicago squandered a plethora of scoring opportunities with RISP against Atlanta and Cincinnati.

As a result, four of the last five games lasted into extra frames, and four of those contests were decided by a single run.

This also spelled a heavy work load for the bullpen, which was the deciding
