The Braves snapped the Cubs four game winning steak tonight, 2-0, behind the pitching of Javier Vazquez and three relievers. The offense appeared to revert back to old habits of not being able to get the big hit in the clutch, stranding 11 runners on the evening.

The Cubs finally gave the fans a relaxing day beating the Indians 6-2 at Wrigley Field finishing off a three game sweep of the Tribe.

Just when you thought the Cubs couldn't top Thursday's comeback against the cross town hated White Sox, they pulled off an even more improbable comeback on Friday afternoon at the Friendly Confines.

Thursday afternoon there was pandemonium at Wrigley Field after the Cubs rallied from a four run deficit with two outs in the bottom of the eighth inning on back to back home runs from Derrek Lee and Geovany Soto. Lee hit a three run shot into the basket in right center, before Soto connected on a 1-1 pitch sending it up into the left center field bleachers to tie the game at 5 apiece.

If all the reports are true, it's my opinion that any player caught cheating should be banned from the game with 0% chance of making the HOF. I don't know how any fan can stand up for any of these players. They have cheated us the fans and most importantly they have disgraced the game that made them who they are.

The Cubs and Sox will kick off the 2009 version of the crosstown classic at Wrigley Field this evening. A world championship for the Sox in 2005 and the Cubs national league contention the last few years, and high expectations this season have probably dulled the fans intensity for this series a little bit. Still it is Cubs/Sox so I expect that by 7:05 tonite everyone will be jazzed up and ready to go.
Below are my top 5 Cubs/Sox games at Wrigley Field:

| How well do you know your White Sox vs. Cubs history? |

Amaze your friends! Wow your family!
Win that bet with that know-it-all sitting next to you!
While neither the White Sox nor the Cubs are tearing things up as they prepare to meet Tuesday night at Wrigley Field, there are some amazing facts about the series, which began all the way back on June 16, 1997. Among them:
• After 66 meetings, each team is 33-33.
• The Sox lead the Cubs in total runs scored 323-322.
• Thirteen... [Read More]

| Come To Think Of It: Has Lou Piniella Lost The Fire? |
|
Jun 15, 2009 - 5:18 PM - by BR
|
I recognize that you don't throw questions like this one around just because of a half season of mediocre baseball.
Still, I want to know what the Cubs Community thinks: has Lou lost the fire in his belly?
Again, this is not an overreaction to what has occurred this season, though that is certainly part of it. The concern is based on the following:
- His age: Look, I have nothing against older guys, as I'm getting there myself (unfortunately). But let's face it,

| Go see "We Believe." |

Whether or not you are a Cubs fan, and chances are, if you are reading this, you are a Cubs' fan. But, nonetheless, go see the movie.
Making a documentary about the Cubs is not easy. Why? Because so many have been made. WGN and HBO dipped into the Cubs history recently, but "We Believe" directed by John Schienfeld, separates itself with two key aspects.
"We Believe" offers as much of a history of Chicago as it does abo... [Read More]

| Wrigley Gatorade machine makes comeback, this time steel-plated |
|
Jun 15, 2009 - 12:16 PM - by Cubs News
|
The Cubs equipment management staff has been hard at work recently, as evidenced by the steel-plated Gatorade machine that debuted in the Wrigley Field dugout this weekend. The original Gatorade machine proved ill-equipped to handle the abuse to which it was subjected so far this season, with both Ryan Dempster and Carlos Zambrano... [Read More]

Milton says he was still seeing purple and green stars from looking into the sun after making the catch before he threw the ball into the right field bleachers with only 2 outs, but his heart was in the right place because he wasn't trying to give somebody a souvenir.
I would just appreciate it if the Cubs would get their heads in the right place. All of them, not just Milton. That particular play actually doesn't bother me now that i've had time to reflect on it and i made a post about it here ----> Give Him A Break
